The gateways allow the configuration of data collection intervals from as little as 30 minute periods, individually configurable for each spot associated.
Some recommendations are necessary when choosing the interval for the collection of overall data:
- Criticality of the machine or component being monitored: sensors located on more critical machines could have more frequent collections, like 1 or 2 hours. Less critical machines or machines with a certain stability of vibration / temperature could have higher collection intervals, such as 5 hours (for example). It is important that this is evaluated and adjusted according to the requirements.
- Sensor sample interval vs. gateway collection interval: each time the gateway collects overall temperature and triaxial vibration data from a sensor, it clears the internal memory of the sensor. In other words, the data collected via Bluetooth that was being stored in its internal memory is sent to the Web Platform. The sensor, in turn, works based on a sample interval defined previously and fills its memory according to that frequency of collection. The sample interval can be viewed on the heading of the 'Spot Viewer' on the Web Platform:
Another important point is that each spot has a trigger that regulates the activation of the alerts A1 and A2. To know more about the triggers, consult this article.
We recommend that the gateway collection interval for a spot observes the following rule (as a minimum requirement):
Gateway collection interval > (Trigger +1) * Sensor sample interval
Example of a correctly configured collection interval:
Spot: Motor LOA Sample interval = 20 minutes Trigger = 2
In this case, the gateway collection interval should be AT LEAST: Gateway collection interval > (2+1) * 20 min Gateway collection interval > 60 min
Example of an incorrectly configured collection interval:
Spot: Motor LA Sample interval = 30 minutes Trigger = 3
Assuming that the gateway collection interval is 30 minutes, what would happen in this case?
Every time the gateway makes a collection (every 30 minutes) it only collects one point/measurement. Since the trigger corresponds to 3 measurements, the A1 and A2 alerts will never be activated because there will never be 3 measurements received together for processing by the Web Platform.
There are two possible solutions to this example:
a) Adjust the gateway collection interval:
Gateway collection interval > (3+1) * 30 min Gateway collection interval > 120 min or 2h
b) Reduce the sample interval of the sensor according to the desired gateway collection interval.
